Best RGB/ LED fans ?

Main Post:

Hey guys,

What is the most performant RGB or single color LED fans and also quiet ? I heard Noctua are the best on the market but I didn't find RGB from noctua ?

Top Comment:

Noctua does not make RGB fans. Thermaltake Riing fans move a lot of air (more than Corsair's RGB fans). NZXT AER look nice but I don't know how they perform relevant to the Riings. All are pretty quiet.

It's nothing I would be worried about though to be honest. The difference is very small between any good case fans, and these are all pretty good. I'd pick the ones I think look the best since that's what you're buying them for when it comes to RGB.

Best LED fans? [Discussion]

Main Post:

As many of you may know, not all LED fans are created equal. Some look really bad, even when they're at full burn in a dimly lit room. Mine just look like blue swastikas (Phantek 140mm) which I'm sure is because the blades are opaque white.

Since it's impossible to tell how they really look in photos on websites trying to sell the things, and since I doubt anyone has done videos for more than a few of them, I thought I'd ask the people who've used more than a few, which ones are the best?

We're talking greatest illumination here, probably clear blades, and if there are some with more than just four LEDs in them, that'd be awesome.

RGB fans vs LED fans + light strip (Thermaltake, Corsair)

Main Post:

My build is done, it just needs new lights to go along with it. It's currently using Corsair SP 140mm Purple LED fans from my last PC.

I have a budget of under $100 for this light show; I expect it to last well into my next major upgrade (2-3 years from now). I can't decide how exactly to go about lighting my case.

On one side I have the choice of Thermaltake's 140mm RGB Riing fans. I like the look of Riing over the other types of fans (my Corsair purple LED fans got buried by other light sources in my last build). They are pricey, so getting a light strip would be out of the question, but would the RGB fans cover lighting in total?

On the other side I have Thermaltake's 140mm Blue Riing fans paired with an Alchemy 2.0 purple light strip and a few Corsair Air AF 140s for further accent (Thermaltake doesn't make airflow fans with the ring).

I don't know which setup would be more cost effective in the long run, plus one that would look better. I am restricted to one color for one type of fan, but am restricted to one type of fan for the other. Are there other good RGB fan brands out there with rings? Or is the non-RGB setup just fine; the RGB one would put me around $100, though, given current prices.

Case: CoolerMaster Mastercase Maker 5

In the end this is going to come down to personal taste but I'd probably take the second of the two options you listed. I'd also take a look at just getting white led fans and then looking at the nzxt hue or hue+

Which do you guys prefer? LED fans or LED strips? Or do you prefer old-school cathodes?

Main Post:

Planning to build my first real PC (currently using a 4 year old "gaming" laptop) within the coming months. I'm trying to decide between 2-3 Corsair AF140 LED fans (For sure the top two fan spaces on an R4, maybe the rear as well?), or if I should just do regular AF140s and use an LED strip (digging the NZXT sleeved kit).

I'm just trying to decide which will be better in the end. I just want an overall blue glow in my case, which I think I could achieve with either. Which do you guys prefer? Which looks better? It's hard to tell which looks better online since cameras pick up LED lights kind of off sometimes.

Bonus Question: How big of a difference in performance is there between the AF140s and AF140 LEDs. It's odd that the latter is cheaper, so I'm assuming they're not as good performance-wise.

Top Comment: LED strips because I can turn them off without affecting airflow.

Colored led fans or led strips?

Main Post:

So im thinking of changing the color of my Glorious machine and trying to decide if i should just change all 7 of my blue led fans to a different color fan, or should I do somthing like the NZXT Hue which is RGB led strips and just buy normal fans or maybe splurge and get all Noctua fans. What do you guys think? (here is what my machine looks like right now. http://imgur.com/a/8fR3i)
